چکیده

This paper presents a simple empirical approach to modeling and forecasting market option prices using localized option regressions (LOR). LOR projects market option prices over localized regions of their state space and is robust to assumptions regarding the underlying asset dynamics (e.g. log-normality) and volatility structure. Our empirical study using three years of daily S&P500 options shows that LOR yields smaller out-of-sample pricing errors (e.g. 32% one-day-out) relative to an efficient benchmark from the literature and produces option prices free of the volatility smile. In addition to being an efficient and robust option modeling and valuation tool for large option books, LOR provides a simple to implement empirical benchmark for evaluating more complex risk-neutral models.

Measuring Expectations in Options Markets: an Application to the S&p500 Index

ABSTRACT. Extracting market expectations has always been an important issue when making national policies and investment decisions in financial markets. In option markets, the most popular way has been to extract implied volatilities to assess the future variability of the underlying with the use of the Black & Scholes formula. In this manuscript, we propose a novel way to extract the whole tim...

Seasonality and Forecasting of Monthly Broiler Price in Iran

The objective of this study was to model seasonal behavior of broiler price in Iran that can be used to forecast the monthly broiler prices. In this context, the periodic autoregressive (PAR), the seasonal integrated models, and the Box-Jenkins (SARIMA) models were used as the primary nominates for the forecasting model. It was shown that the PAR (q) model could not be considered as an appropri...

Semiparametric pricing of multivariate contingent claims

This paper develops and implements a methodology for pricing multivariate contingent claims (MVCC's) based on semiparametric estimation of the multivariate risk-neutral density function. This methodology generates MVCC prices which are consistent with current market prices of univariate contingent claims. This method allows for completely general marginal risk-neutral densities and is compatibl...

Option Pricing on Commodity Prices Using Jump Diffusion Models

In this paper, we aim at developing a model for option pricing to reduce the risks associated with Ethiopian commodity prices fluctuations. We used the daily closed Unwashed Lekempti grade 5 (ULK5) coffee and Whitish Wollega Sesame Seed Grade3 (WWSS3) prices obtained from Ethiopia commodity exchange (ECX) market to analyse the prices fluctuations. The natures of log-returns of the prices exhibit a...

پیش‌بینی قیمت‌های نقدی گازطبیعی به کمک مدل‌های غیرخطی ناپارامتریک

Developing models for accurate natural gas spot price forecasting is critical because these forecasts are useful in determining a range of regulatory decisions covering both supply and demand of natural gas or for market participants. A price forecasting modeler needs to use trial and error to build mathematical models (such as ANN) for different input combinations. This is very time consuming ...
